jBilling Enterprise Edition 3.2.0 Release

August 6 2013 by Crystal Bourque

We are pleased to announce that on April 30, 2013, jBilling released Enterprise Edition 3.2.0! This latest release offers you a mix of new features and improvements to existing features, such as:

Custom Field Filters - you now are able to create a filter using any meta field to help you to quickly find information that pertains to a specific group of items.

Unique Emails - gives you and your customers the possibility of resetting a login password, by forcing the system to save unique email addresses.

Overdue Invoice Penalty Plug-In - will automatically apply a fee to a customer’s overdue invoice, and will continue to apply that fee until the customer provides a payment.

New Default Invoice Design -this new template is used by jBilling to invoice our customers and is now also used as the new default invoice design.

This release also contains the following major enhancements:

Custom Notifications

Notifications are a key component to jBilling. They allow you to email invoices to your customers, as well as give you the option to remind your customers about various events like, overdue invoices, or a failed payment.

In jBilling 3.2, you can now create your own notifications directly in the user interface! The benefit to this is that you have the ability to create notifications that are specific to your billing requirements. For example, you need a notification that will send an alert to the customer when they make a change in services. It is not a notification that comes ‘out of the box’ in jBilling, however, with this new functionality, your notification can be easily created and maintained without the need for customization.

jBilling has also extended the notification page to include situations where you may want to include more than one recipient for the notification. For example, a Reseller (parent) account may want to know if their child account’s payment has been successful or not. The system can be configured to send the notification to the child account, and the Reseller. Other accounts related to the user are:
Admin
All Parent Accounts
Partner Account

Salesforce Integration

A customer relationship management (CRM) system is an added benefit to any business. It helps to keep administrators up to date with their customer’s activities in every way, except for when you want to generate an invoice. Through the development of an event processor plug-in, Salesforce is now successfully integrated with jBilling so that you get the best of both worlds.

The idea is for you to use, or continue to use Salesforce for all of your customer management tasks. For example, when a customer signs up for some services, or requests a quote, and even wants to make a payment, they have the ability to do so. Any information, once updated in Salesforce, will update jBilling in real-time. The customer’s invoices will then be automatically generated in jBilling, and their account in Salesforce will be automatically updated with this information. Any information once updated in jBilling, will be updated in Salesforce in real-time.

jBilling Telco Edition Is the First Open Source Solution Designed to Meet Telco Needs

Ottawa, Ontario, October 16, 2012 — jBilling, the world's leading open source billing solution, today announced the near-term availability of jBilling Telco Edition, a new version of its widely used billing software specifically built for the telecommunications industry. Available as Software-as-a-Service or downloadable code, jBilling Telco Edition is the first open source solution designed to meet the particular billing needs of telecom companies.

"Telcos have had very few options when it comes to billing. Up until now, their choices have been confined to expensive, proprietary systems, or solutions with limited functionality," said Emiliano Conde, Founder of jBilling. "With jBilling Telco Edition, telecom companies will have a true open source option that is flexible, robust, and can accommodate complex, converged billing with ease."

jBilling has served the telecom industry for more than a decade, and its solutions are used by trusted telecom companies worldwide. However, jBilling Telco Edition marks the first version of the software that will offer new, unique features designed to meet telco specifications. These features include:

  • True cloud-based mediation that dynamically allocates resources for parallel processing of call detail records (CDRs)
  • Pre-paid functionality that is compatible with the Diameter protocol
  • Advanced rating with pricing models and rate cards
  • Pre-configured plug-ins and preferences based on typical telecom implementations

jBilling Telco Edition can also accommodate a wide variety of billing scenarios no matter how complex, including subscriptions, pre-paid billing and accrued credits, as well as metered, volume, and graduated usage. Moreover, telcos can implement jBilling for a wide range of services—such as voice, mobile, Internet, and more—and customize the system to fit their business needs.

"We're excited to provide telecom companies with an open source solution created just for them, and in typical jBilling fashion, we're using the latest technology to build the best possible solution," Conde said. "We're confident that many of jBilling Teclo Edition's features, such as the Hadoop-based cloud mediation module, are going to be trend-setters for the industry."
